2-3 Weeks

We're all doing well and enjoying Valen. He's a great-- he loves to nurse and be held, and he sleeps happily next to me for long stretches at night. I am finding it much easier to enjoy the newborn stage this time; I can't believe he has already grown so much in the past three weeks!

Thank goodness for the lovely spring weather-- Constance and Valen and I have enjoyed time at the park almost every day for the past week, and Constance loves having a place to "get her energy out," as she says. Here she is in a new outfit that Pippa brought her last weekend:

And here she is preparing to jump from the picnic table (which she says is her wagon; see below,,,)

I have tried to stop trying to tell Constance "Be careful!" quite so much; she really enjoys climbing and jumping, and I think the exploring is good for her (if sometimes nerve-wracking for me!). She has such a good time:

...and this is how Valen spends all of his time at the park:

Finally, Constance's latest interest (and by "latest," I mean, for the past 6 months) is Little House on the Prairie. We started by reading all of the books by Laura herself, and Constance loved them. She received Season 1 of the Michael Landon series for Christmas this year, and she worn out the DVDs by watching them. I noticed this morning that she was doing something weird with her hat; she kept reaching up next to her ears and tugging on something. I asked what she was doing and eventually concluded that she was mimicking what Caroline does in the theme song of the show (I guess she's tying her bonnet, or tucking her hair behind her ear, or something...) Here's C's version:

I have been trying to think of ways to make her a bonnet of her own, and I realized this morning that the easiest possible method would be a quick conversion of the hats she already owns. Wow-- it was easier and cuter than I expected! She loved it:
